The Discord community for all things edge networking, centered on fiber‑optic networking and led by pros and enthusiasts, united in instilling computer‑networking independence from Ethernet to PON.

Together we leverage our collective expertise and passion to advocate for greater control and flexibility in how we access and utilize technology at the edge.

Namesake

8311 is leetspeak for BELL of Alexander Graham Bell fame and the telecommunications network he founded and what were to become the Baby Bells, including that of Bell Canada.

Rules

The 8311 community server abides by Discord's Terms of Service and Discord's Community Guidelines.

Additionally, the following rules have been put in place to keep the server civil and a safe place for all members.

  1. Keep it technical and well-mannered
  2. NO politics or religion (incl. tech, ie. Linux vs BSD)
  3. NO hate speech (racism, sexism, harassment, intimidation, etc.)
  4. NO explicit, violent, or prohibited material (incl. weapons or drugs)
  5. NO spam (incl. CAPS, pings)
  6. NO solicitation and/or advertising (excluding #self-promo)
  7. DO NOT disclose, publish, or sell personal information of any member past or present (incl. off-platform)
  8. DO NOT direct message members without prior permission or discussion in a public channel
  9. DO NOT discuss ANY forms of theft of service, fraud, OR malice
